Trompe L'Oeil ~ (pronounced TROMP LOY) Trompe l'oeil painting is a special type of painting technique that gives a three dimensional effect when viewed. It's French translation is "to fool the eye". Trompe l'oeil is often used to paint a fake window scene on a wall, or shelves with items displayed. It can also be used on furniture to give the illusion of things hanging out of drawers, or items displayed on the top of a dresser. Examples: (click for enlarged view)
