Dining

Our Table The food on Celebration was unremarkable. We had breakfast and lunch each day in the Lido Deck's Wheelhouse Bar and Grill, an eyesore of a restaurant with very inconvenient and cramped buffet lines. While menu selections were the same each day, we did enjoy our meals there. Breakfast included eggs, french toast, croissants, cereal, bacon, and made-to-order omelets; for lunch we had steak, fries, chicken breast, salad, and pasta. We attended several midnight buffets, the best of which was the Mexican buffet the night we left Cozumel. The buffets were not as crowded, and we enjoyed the opportunity to eat late at night.

Our Waiter and Busboy Dinner in the dining room was always an experience, mostly due to our tablemates. We were all placed together after requesting to be moved to main seating, and we met on the second night. We ate in the dining room nearly every night, even though my husband does not like to eat "normal" food - he is a cereal, burger, and pizza kind of guy, but he did try what the menus had to offer. I had no complaints, but the food was nothing to write home about either. The fish dishes and the soup WERE quite bad, but everything else was acceptable. The after-dinner parades were a bit painful to watch; I am sure they are more of an "experience" in the larger dining rooms on the newer ships. One additional comment - I have heard complaints on the cruising newsgroups about people not dressing up for formal nights on Carnival; well, that was not the case on our cruise. Nearly everyone dressed appropriately, and it was fun getting dressed up for dinner and a show. On the second formal night, which was our last night, we had decided to skip the formal dinner and have dinner on the Lido deck; however, we discovered that there was NO casual dinner that night. We quickly returned to our cabin to change, and we had a good time after all!
